Sound quality seems fairly similar between these units (slight edge: Ui24) Įasy to learn so that other band members can use (edge: TouchMix). Redundancy of a built-in screen seems like a good thing (edge: TouchMix) Recording individual channels would be a nice thing to have but not mandatory (edge: Ui24)

Most recently I've gone back to using my very basic board from the 90s (Carvin SM162) with no parametric EQ it's clean enough to use and I can get a lot out of it with a few rack EQ units when we use it just for vocals in a rehearsal setting, but I want the processing power of parametric EQ and compression on each channel that one of the above boards will afford me, not to mention more flexibility for mixing in a live situation when we might mic drums/guitar and run keys through the system, more busses, etc. I've always been the default sound guy in most of the bands I've been in, partly because I had an ear and an interest in it, and partly because nobody else in the band ever did.
